ENRMP #069 [antanas jasenka - point.exe]
“Point.exe is a work done with programme max/msp. It was interesting for me to try to exploit the sphere and spectrum of a digitally produced sound. A point might be interpreted as part of a circle, and by constantly repeating, it actually draws the circle itself. The duality in all this is that the perimeter of a circle is in fact a straight line which is simply connected with itself. This line is therefore fissionable into different forms of sound.
A line might also be interpreted as time, which is moving in one direction and one direction only, and when it passes, it never comes back. So in a sense to make a line into a circle is basically an attempt to deny this fundamental truth….
The repetition of the same rhythmical and melodic patterns is not only common, it actually dominates in Lithuanian folk music.
This work was an attempt to take a closer look at the old patterns from today’s perspective.”
