“Breaks The Blank Day takes small, insignificant slices of sound and intricately builds them up into overlapping waves of audio. Liberally making use of filters and other effects, the tracks on this debut release are ever-shifting patterns and loops that pulsate hypnotically through your aural hemisphere. Best served with headphones late at night in the dark.”

“Isaac Cordal, multidisciplinary plastic artist, member of the Alg-a community, has always featured a metamorphic affinity with the human body through his works, be it with photography (Ola Calma, 2004) or be it with sound installations (Re-poso, 2004).
In this work, titled ‘Love them, Hate them’, Cordal accompanies himself by Maureen Kinnear, the voice that serves as a pendulum for the sampled sound oscillations which Isaac works on and filters out. In this EP, which takes us into the fantastic world of Antye Greie’s (AGF) e-poetry, and also to several cities, Maina sampled the most intimate and inhabited urbanity, the pain, the innocence, the screams and the revolt, which are here transformed and (re)created in a complete exercise of emotional self-closure.
The voice and the silence hand-to-hand, with the machine acting as language”

“One of the first all-ambient releases on Monotonik in quite some time, this 3-track EP from relatively undiscovered Japanese artist Akira Kosemura is a beautifully naturalistic drift through what sounds like field recordings twinned with sweet sine waves melodies - reminiscent of anything from Lackluster at his most ambient to fellow Japanese Monotonik releaser Sabii.
Thus, we have three delicate treats to enjoy - firstly, ‘Forest In The Morning’ has a repeated motif and an almost sepuchral tempo, but overall sounds like the trilling of nature happily at work. Following up, ‘June’ is definitely all about life in the forest, with woodpeckers, and calm, and wonder. Finally, the cutely named ‘Catnap’ strays almost into Brian Eno territory, with shimmering lakes of sound, and bass wandering in to shake your convictions and restore your happiness, all at once.
Overall, a most appetizing debut for Kosemura (who thanks friend Yuma Saito for the cover image to the EP), and the start of what we hope will be a glorious summer for all Monotonik listeners. And try to relax as much as these tracks do, OK?”

“From Russia comes Aeterna Anima, which is latin and means eternal soul. Aeternia Anima is an one-man project which aim is to show the importance of traditions through the music. Previously Aeterna has released two demos and been featured on an compilation. The music on ‘Where is The End of Viodism?’ is quite straight forward dark ambient, with some nice twists. Along with the drones, bells and samples there’s alot of vocals, sometimes spoken sometimes whispered. The repetative structures of the songs gives them a nice ritual sound.”

“On ‘Testament’ D&S explores his music style. Each track has the same foundation, but also each track is different than another. From ‘cosmic sounds’, through experiments with looped rhythm to ‘classic dark ambient’.”
