AVXMP3 #006 [elexx - life cycles]
“Touching on deep house, detroit grooves and sprinklings of minimal/electro this EP presents an overall charm in it’s melodic and upbeat feel with some massive hooks which wouldn’t be out of place on a more commercial release.
Patrick Walker turns in a more edgy take on life cycles; a tumbling, micro/electro fusion with gritty analogue growls and deep aquatic chords. This collection is the ideal compliment to any summer shakedown.”
- space shuttle “A deep slice of minimal techno which takes us on a blissed out journey through the substreets of Edinburgh through the eyes of a stoned frenchman. Warm effected synths meander over the top of intricate, minimal rythyms to give this tripped out track a sparkling edge. Our first impression of this track was that it contained similar references to the current output on imprints such as get physical, where strong melody is often more prevalant than microsampled skits.”
- life cycles “Kicking of with an edgy breakbeat, this track soon drops warm , bubbling analogue melodies again over a deep, linear techno groove. Full of charm, this track will appeal to those who remember the harthouse/rising high era of techno, where hypnotic melodies and strong percussion produce a trance like groove.”
- life cycles (patrick walker elektromek mix) “Patrick Walker rips open the fabric of life cycles with a fragmented peice of modern electro, maintaining the gritty break of the original, he drops ripping analogue stabs and deep melancholic chords into the mix to give it a frantic yet thoughtful edge, since it has been previewed this mix has drawn comparisons with monolake and the aquatic electro of drexciya.”
- purple cream (on my way out mix) “Elexx finishes off with a lovely detroit tinged track full of swirling chords and pumped percussion ideal for the dancefloor; recorded live, this track builds on the slow building energy of the previous tracks and packs a slightly harder punch.”
