“Evan Morris has no interest in being like other people that perform live electronic music with laptops. Who just stare really intensely at their screen while they play solitaire(or whatever) and play back their songs on a CD. Well, maybe not everyone is doing this but how can you tell. Instead Evan in reaction to this behavior, has built his own hardware/software interface to at least try to make things a little bit more interesting because, how interesting is staring at someone who never moves. I mean to say that Evans hardware interface has pretty lights that dance around.”
“Geronimo’s second release. This one is also suitable for the summer : tropical mood techno.”
Inserting into acoustical playing the influence of improvised electronic musics, the group aims at a meeting and at a dialogue of the mediums. His performances are sometimes entirely acoustical, sometimes subject to various types of amplification and electrical implements. The Tutu Combo is active since 2000. It regroups musicians been used by free improvisation. The group favours the contexts of correlation with other forms of art and often collaborated with poets or video directors.
Tutu Combo envisages music in a completely play manner. In a spirit of game more than in virtuosity, work plans are determined by the participants. The musicians appropriate in their please these rules imposed to transform, confuse, twist sound material. The cohesion of the group is so much fond of the freedom of individual expression of the artists who compose it that in the almost private relation of exchange and listening who link them up in game. Tutu Combo plays seriously … as children. Since 2003, the members of the group also founded Tour de Bras, an organism of creation, production and broadcasting of actual musics.
Heddy boubaker:
After exploring a lot of musical way on guitare and as autodidacte, Heddy Boubaker, currently living near Toulouse (F), fall in love with the saxophone. And from jazz to free-jazz, he approch to the deep form of improvised music, crossing the way of musician as LĂŞ Quan Ninh, Barre Phillips, SĂ©bastien Cirotteau or Fabien Duscomb, develloping a sound where meet rivers, falls, wind in the trees, murmurs or crash of the city, the false silence of an old sleepy house, cracking of the wood and squealing of the gravel under the steps of phlegmatic walkers, mooings, squealings and whistles of phantasmagoric animals… all of this imaginary, imagined, unimaginable sounds who are connected freely in an unceasingly renewed poetry. He is also organising concert in ‘La Maison Peinte’ in Labarthe sur Lèze.”
“My laptop is an extension of my body and of my thinking. I use it to discover when I mix my sound with someone else’s sound, I use it to build my skin that can make contact through the web and through the air, I use it to create some pretexts, some areas of questioning about making, about identities and about my relation with others: it permeates and it’s permeated by my mind. I play to discuss myself, to extend myself and criticize my limits, to discuss the culture that constitutes my being, to make experiences of the differences I can not even think.
When a brand new perception crashes on what already inhabits the body, the self mutates its form: a crashbonsai happens, a small crash, sometimes imperceptible but constitutional of the next self. Sound has the privilege to pass through some zones of the body not really defended by culture and that’s why I think it is the right media to cause small breakings.
Crashbonsai is the performing act of the skyapnea project, a platform for the promotion of critical sound and free culture: www.skyapnea.com“
“The basic idea was simple, offer to different artisits to rework the whole material of the netlabel releases. And from this recreate a song, with the abslote liberty of sounds choice and way to use them. Between an ode and a cutting up…?”
