RAR #006 [twin tower connection - electronic rocka EP]

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

“Our next release is from the man we call Twin Tower Connection, and is entitled, ‘Electronic Rocka’. Straight out of Zweibrücken, Germany, T.T.C. is always digging deep into the world of experimentation. This release falls somewhere inbetween electro-house, glitch, and minimal techno. However, with a style similar to no one. Bass-heavy, hard, and concrete at times, while sculpting melodic, electronic, dark tech-house style bass lines at others; this release helps define the versitility of our artists. T.T.C. is one of our most verstile artists, as we’ve heard tracks of many a different kind from his end. He is dedicated to being original. We love it when artists think and create outside the box (still sounding musical ofcourse, though we understand art is a ’subjective thing’). This release is filled with lots of layers, songs are sequenced in a pretty simplistic manner, while delivering wild, minimal like effects to add interest. More danceable than some other tracks that Twin Tower has produced, but stilled has his signature warped, off step-experimental funk sound. This is a release you have to check out. Very different from most and has lots of character.”

N84 #001 [dumb machine - in league with seitan]

Monday, October 30th, 2006

“In League with Seitan is a lovely little e.p with a monstrous Phil Collins cover at the end. If you like your downtempo with cool bass and drum hits, and a dash of vocoder, then this is for you.”

GFR #07EP [fungitrash - wirepuke EP]

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

“About Fungitrash: This project emerged on fall 2003 in Czech-moravian Highlands. Since then a lot of things has changed, members were reduced from two to one. First it was just an experiment with simple, primitive and amateur sound, but then the project developed into subtile sofisticated music with emphasis on atmosphere building, mainly thanks to the melancholic melodies and various beats (from live to DnB-like). Tracks are composed with constant evolving, although the artist sometimes slides into clear ambient compositions.”

The temperature is dropping, and so are the beats. Toss away those ear muffs and strapON head phones.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood of Zürich, check out the netlabel festival going on the 17th and 18th of November. More information is available here: netlabelfestival.ch.

If you’re in the vicinity of NYC, check out Blip Fest 2006! Here is a quote from the site:

“THE TANK and 8BITPEOPLES are pleased to present the Blip Festival, a four-day celebration of over 30 international artists exploring the untapped potential of low-bit videogame consoles and home computers used as creative tools. Familiar devices are pushed in new directions with startling results — Nintendo Entertainment Systems and Game Boys roaring with futuristic floor-stomping rhythms and fist-waving melody, art-damaged Sega hardware generating fluctuating and abstracted video patterns — and that’s only the beginning. An exploration of the chiptune idiom and its close relatives, the Blip Festival is the biggest and most comprehensive event in the history of the form, and will include daily workshops, art installations, and nightly music performances boasting an international roster larger and more far-reaching than any previous event of its kind. Small sounds at large scales pushed to the limit at high volumes — the Blip Festival is an unprecedented event that is not to be missed.”
