mdS-al #007 [frank ‘elapse’ siegel - weapons of mass-education]

Monday, January 29th, 2007

“After one year of silence elapse is back with a new album called ‘weapons of mass-education’. An essay about alternative, free music. The album is quite different to hear, there are slow and faster tracks to dance to. But the crackling weird beats bring down all tracks to a common denominator: Bit-crusher, broken beats and nice melodies. All in all ‘weapons of mass-education’ could be described as something between elektronika and IDM.

Avoid investing money in weapons of mass-destruction!” — elapse/mdS

Support Bleepwatch!

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Dear Bleepwatchers,

Happy New Year! It’s 2007– THE FUTURE! I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying this global warming winter. It’s been some time now since the start of Bleepwatch, and I thank you all for your continued support.

Unfortunately, it’s time again for me to pay the annual web hosting bill. I’m asking for donations– as much as I hate to. In order to keep Bleepwatch ad-free, this is truly needed, as I don’t earn a cent from Bleepwatch [and it can become time consuming aswell]. Any amount would be greatly appreciated!

>> DONATE! <<

Oh! I’d also like to mention that a new interview by David Keifer will be up soon! Keep on bleepin’ in the free world. Thanks!

Update:

I have already received a few donations from some very generous individuals [you know who you are!], but am still coming up a bit short on the annual hosting cost. The post will remain at the top of Bleepwatch until the end of January. Fear not, release submissions will still be accepted and placed beneath it.

I’ve decided to add a bit of incentive. I will be adding mini-banners linking to the donors site on the bleepwatch sidebar [non-obtrusive, but nicely placed], aswell as giving very special recognition on the Bleepwatch netlabel list [if it is a netlabel who has made the donation] at the start of February. This offer is extended till the end of January, and for donations of $15 or greater. I will also be asking qualified donors for their home addresses, as I will be sending each of them a copy of the 8bitpeoples #050 double-CD release!

Donating just for the sake of being nice and supportive is also greatly appreciated! Bleepwatch is a great resource, and I thank you all for your support. Oh, and by the way, a new interview by David Keifer is UP! Check it out in the Interviews section, or CLICK HERE. Cheers!

“The given release can be characterized as classical sounding in the style. In a measure melodious and filled with breath. Each piece sounds in the channel, but together they make a uniform picture.”

KPU #102 [off land - apt path]

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

“We’re kicking off this exciting new year with a great new EP from previous releaser Off Land, who one-ups himself from his past works in great style with apt path. On this new collection Off Land is continuing in the same direction of minimal ambience but taking it deeper, with even more emotive qualities present therein, and also adding two wonderful remixes from Gastón Arévalo and Jon 7. Ambient fans rejoice and experience this unique piece of music.”

GFR #010EP [dj.noizcut - community cut]

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

“The Community Cut, first EP of dj.noizcut, has been in production for a long period of time. First tracks were written in the beginning of 2006, but soon the work stopped due to some Noizcuts’ personal problems. When it was reopened, whole bunch of new tracks has been done, but they were also replaced many times… Even covers were changing often (well, not SO often..). In the summer 2006, EP was finally mixed and ready to master, but… It’s probably some kind of curse that Noizcut keeps changing things at last minute, so some new tracks appeared, but this time they were brought to final stage. Only track that survived since the very beginning is the ‘Dopey Afternoon’. Mix took some time, but the master was done in quite a hurry, otherwise the Community Cut would be never released :) This EP is a soft one, there aren’t any hard beats, it is rather somewhere between the abstract hip-hop and downtempo. Seven tracks, lazy moods, noisy cuts and similar stuff, enjoy it!”
