NSI #010 [gurdonark - tallgrass canticles]
“An entire story about the themes of ‘Tallgrass Canticle’ resides at the release page at http://www.negativesoundinstitute.com, and yet with any ambient work the sound is, in some ways, the true whole story.
The sounds here are six relatively short pieces from that ambient fellow-travel style termed ‘weirdbient’, ranging from two to five and a half minutes each. So often I like the pieces in my mp3 player which create a mood or sense of place, set forth interesting drones and effects, and then leave the listener richer for the travels within.
With ‘Tallgrass Canticle’, I invite you to a form of prairie hymn, less a matter of religion than of quiet drones in memory of forgotten fields. If you seem to be lost between the diverse woods of convention and experimentation, I invite you to join me in the grasslands of memory and loss.”

I’ve had the opportunity to listen to these tracks several times and they are real growers. A fine collection.
