RAR #009 [strial - workaholic EP]

Posted in Acid, Techno by bleepwatcher

“Back again is netlabel veteran and head of Edensonic Records to bring you his first EP on RaR and the hardest techno release yet on this label. This release entitled ‘Workaholic’ is filled with hard percussive arrangements, filled with psyched out Detroit style synth stabs, drowned over mysterious back drop, and sometimes acid type style melodies and pads. As with all his other releases, Strial gives us style, character, and soul by the pound! This EP couldn have had a better name, because this is exacly what Strial is, ‘a workaholic.’ While being a successful scientist in the field of medicine, Strial has managed many artists on his own label Edensonic, which has become an icon in the netlabel scene for the genre of techno. Strial has also helped RaR behind the scenes too, providing priceless advice and direction. He has helped me (Marcus Watkins) not only grow as an director to this label, but has also opened my mind a dj, a producer, a person, and most importantly as a friend. It can truely be said that Random Access Recordings would not be here if it were not for Strial. Strial is one of the most versitle artists in the netlabel scene and this release is a very special one starting a long series of hard techno bangers from this true master at ‘WORK.’ ENJOY!”

TLHOTRA #007 [Herr Åberg och Fröken Ankarborg - Jag rör mig obehindrat nu]

Posted in Electro by bleepwatcher

“After seven years together mister Ã…berg and miss Ankarborg finally decided to get serious and enter the studio. A poem was recorded and given three different personalities. The first track is for the electro disco queen, the second is for the neurotic scary movie lover, and the third and last is for the reggae boy next door who yet hasn’t discovered his love for electro. So reason with your psychiatrist and pick your match or feel free to embrace them all.”

1bit #022 [sven tasnadi - collected works]

Posted in Ambient, Techno by bleepwatcher

“It has been almost a year since you have heard something from Sven. This pretty massive collection of works, ranging from ambient to dancefloor techno, is one of the reasons why it took so long for his new release. Contributions are made by fellow 1bit-wonderians Juno6 (with one of his typical mellow techno tracks) and lately renamed Steffen Bennemann (delivering his most dancefloor-oriented production to date).”

NSI #013 [verian thomas - massive]

Posted in Ambient by bleepwatcher

“Behind every doorway, within or without, the place containing those things Verian Thomas titles ‘Massive’ awaits. To enter it, one only need believe it is there. Within, light and dark are physical entities but the traditional rules of the good cowboy in the black hat and the bad in the black do not apply. Each is as flawed as the other. One must choose the right one to trust at the right moment to find the doorway that leads home. No fantasy made real, but instead the mind’s own exultation and panic made light and shadow. If a firefly of the mind is a gas furnace of the flesh, then the flame burns no less brightly.

Massive alternates fear and jubilation in an adventure of the sort in which one is alone for the first time amid new discoveries. The resulting sounds prompt simplistic emotions ranging from fear of the dark to the relief at finding light. There are forests involved and running to and from unimagined friends and foes When all the words and ideas and ‘hot brain’ notions are left behind, the remaining spaces between the sounds are, indeed, massive.

Massive, as with his prior release ‘Miniatures’, utilises ambient washes of a single, oft-patched Fender Telecaster. In ‘Massive’, though, there is no Ramones-like brevity required of the songs, but instead a comfortable, if not quite literally massive, wash of sound permeates each.

In life, the successful first take of anything is often the best one–and ‘Massive’ adopts this fanciful notion as a working device. We invite you to discover those small, massive places within. This single piece broken into eight silence-punctuated sections is intended to entertain, and to soundtrack the wanderings of your massive mind.

A sample pack is available and the album is also available from NSI as a 320kbps download or 128kbps (as listed here)”

tA_D_jvo2ed [jvox - oxidized]

Posted in Abstract, Electro by bleepwatcher

“JVOX is back at tonatom and strikes again with his very own distinctive style. just like on his first release his music is on the one hand dominated by very straight electronic arrangements with crystal clear outlines and not only a little twist towards rhythmic structures but actually a rather danceable foundation. but on the other hand there are vast areas of soundeffects and melodies which can be found e.g. in the opener grey alert. and this track is exactly *not* the usual ambient mishmash this combination often leads to.

and so we are moving together with JVOX between stylized computer sounds, crispy beats and soundpaintings without mere repetition or standing still but reinventing himself and his style over and over again. and just en-passant JVOX delivers an ultra-feathery click ‘n’ bzzrt ambient hymn called alba which you will find crawling into your ear.”

PR #002 [redshifts - redshifts:messier]

Posted in Experimental by bleepwatcher

“A collection of demos recorded between Early 2006 to much later in the year, this ‘EP’ consists of five tracks with a different, yet less experimental sound than later efforts.

These lo-sound quality songs were compiled into what was worthy as only a ‘digital’ release prior to Redshifts:I-VII.”
