MFM #004 [j-chot - the scene is not down with me]

Monday, April 30th, 2007

“May I ask you a question, friend? If you were to die tonight, would you be prepared to stand before your creator?

That’s a tough question for certain, but there’s someone who can help you answer that question with a confident ‘Yes!’ Allow me to introduce my best friend, J-chot. J-chot entered this world as a helpless human baby, just like you and me. He’s known joy and happiness as well as sorrow and loss, so he understands what you’re going through. J-chot is waiting patiently at the door of your ears, ready for the day you’ll except his EP, ‘The Scene is Not Down with Me,’ and experience breakcore to the fullest.

Remember, J-chot’s EP is a free gift; there’s nothing you and I could do to earn it. The only thing J-chot requests of you in return for this priceless gift is your simple obedience in buying a t-shirt for 14 US dollars, shipping included. Accept J-chot’s free EP, ‘The Scene is Not Down with Me,’ right now and make today the beginning of your new life in breakcore, and remember to share the good news of J-chot with your loved ones.

P.S. - John’s working on a bad-ass house album next!

JTRNET #013 [ras amerlock vs. volfoniq - en chantier / vigilante dub]

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

“Two Jahtarian Heavyweight Dub Champions Ras Amerlock and Volfoniq in the ring for a wicked infight over two rounds! Until the bitter end of the NET-7″-B-Side’s final groove. Beware of bass exploding hits to the head and the deeper regions!

Round One, titled ‘En Chantier’, kicks off heavily on the Drum Song riddim with a rough, punchy skank, a haunting melody line and dirty shuffling machine beats.

The bout seamlessly continues on Side B with ‘Vigilante Dub’ on a new riddim. This time aiming for extreme deepness with wide hypnotic pads and cunning feint attacks of the bassline which are being delivered with the hypnotic techniques of true Dubartial Arts. Don’t forget to put in your teeth protectors for that bassdrum!

Also out now: our deep label compilation ‘JAHTARIAN DUBBERS Vol. 1′ on CD. Aaaand: two Jahtari-classics by disrupt on 12″-vinyl! Via the excellent WERK DISCS label in London. Enjoy!”

English:

Vorfreude is the best kind of joy
Anticipation as an exciting experience
Waiting for Igor, the redeemer
Deliver us from evil, from cold
Bring back the funk, the sex
Do it now, not later
Deep, deeper, 2loop

Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude
Das Erwarten als prickelndes Erlebnis

JON7NET #029 [V.A. - disturbing music for disturbing times]

Friday, April 27th, 2007

“Different artists were asked to submit material of a dark/disturbing nature. The resulting tracks explore these themes through dark ambiance, noise, lo-fi electronics, and sound collage.

The compilation begins with the droning ‘14k scumbag’: a resonance of distorted synths and insect-crackle. Next, ‘Swed_Fl’ lures us into the darkness with its deep bass and cheerless ambiance. Belgium’s Roebin de Freitas delivers the circuit-bent noise of ‘Trailblazers Anthem,’ which is followed by the Merzbow-like assault of Rotted Brain’s ‘Misunderstood.’ The next two tracks, ‘Battle Ready’ and ‘Rumr’ feature lo-fi electronics and misfiring drum machine patterns.

Turmoil returns us to the darkness with ‘Auditory Hallucinations,’ a night-time walk through an unfamiliar landscape. ‘Waxing Elephant’ shifts and jostles like a carnival ride gone haywire, while ‘Armaments’ sounds like a cheap video game being eaten by a distortion pedal. Aptly named, ‘Transmissions from the Asylum’ creates a disturbing atmosphere where disembodied voices cry out in the silence. The haunting ambiance of Wavespan’s ‘The Bridge’ evokes a sense of being followed, as footsteps echo amidst a background of dark drones and chiming metal.

Mystified expands his netlabel discography with ‘Instability 2′: an unsettling arrangement of shifting electronic tones. The compilation finishes with the urban field recording of ‘Drugs and Our Youth,’ by label head Jon7.”

GZR #005 [digita’lis/phlox - the drummondii days]

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

“The Digita’lis/Phlox project is Erich Ward and Shawn Shackelford and took place between 1999 and 2001, including a brief tour from the mid-west to the east coast with Chicago-based IDM artist The Flashbulb. Their release, ‘The Drummondii Days,’ is a collection of abstract broken-beat rhythms, 80’s analog synth manipulations, and heavy compression techniques for a unique lo-fi quality. This release includes the classic ‘A Shape of Strange Faith’ track, it’s remix by The Flashbulb (explicit), and our take on something called the P1 Project.”

RAR #011 [choenyi - transfer protocol]

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

“Choenyi makes his long awaited debut appearance on RaR with 6 fresh new experimental minimal tracks. This release, entitled; ‘Transfer Protocol,’ features heavy layered rolling bass grooves that is catered directly to all you bass junkies, stirred by carefully focused background bleeps, clicks, pops, drops, and touched by pure minimal funk synth repetitve stabs that makes you want to jack all night. This is a bit more experimental than some of the other releases by Choenyi on Yuki Yaki, but still has that warm rhythmic sublime flavor that we are all very familiar with. Unique, creative, moody, funky, groovin’, jackin’; we love it, and we hope you do too. Look for a future release by Choenyi on Italo Business aswell. Enjoy! ;)”
