“Cantaloup, aka Thomas Peters, is a resident of the picturesque town of Marburg where he has been producing music since 2003. After channelling his musical ambitions into several projects (e.g. as drummer and guitarist of the post-rock formation ‘item’), he has since decided to go solo with his own tracks. His music attempts to take its listeners onto journeys where each frequency evokes a warmly coloured image- brighly lit, of course. Their unique atmosphere originates in their acoustic instrumentation and the crystal clear voice of Eva Paul which are merged on an out-of-the-box computer system to create the miniature gems that is the essence of Cantaloup: a musical realm where slowness is the new velocity. “

“Xavi aparca por un rato su proyecto Frägil para grabar cinco experimentos de pop minimalista en el que las protagonistas indiscutibles son las guitarras. Bajo el nombre de Lágrima nos entrega “Trayecto imperfecto de un viaje inacabado”, un trabajo en el que la ausencia de electrónica y un sonido mucho más limpio lo alejan de sus trabajos anteriores.”

“We’re proud to present the debut release on Monotonik from Northbound, a band consisting of Mikko Roisko and Olli Jäderholm, self-described as “two guys from southern Finland, soon to reach their mid-twenties” - and ‘Landscapes Of Late’ is gorgeous live instrument-filled nu-chill groove.
We ran into Northbound through their oblique connections with the TPOLM demo-scene crew and IRC channel, and they explain of their project: “We have both been making music for about 4 years now, and collaborated almost from the very beginning. “Landscapes Of Late” is the first Northbound release, and also the first release for either of us. That’s beacause we didn’t want to release anything until we were even remotely satisfied with our sound. We’re both pretty much self-educated musicians, excluding Mikko’s few guitar&keyboard lessons as a kid.
They continue: “The EP was made in our livingroom studio, using cheap-ass guitars & bass & amplifiers & microphones, some other instruments and yes, computers. Our aim is to build songs around our own melodic & rhythmic ideas, and use samples to spice it all up. (in other words, we only tend to sample instruments that we have no idea how to play, or can’t possibly afford.)”
The results seem to have turned out just fine to us, with debut track ‘Forward’ starting as they mean to go on, all live groove and instrumental verve - a perfect blend of the electronic and acoustic jam. ‘Little Thieves’ is another highlight, almost cranking up the Orbital or John Barry connections for a looping piece of transcendental whimsy. The 6-track EP is rounded out by ‘Funny Stones’, which is all melodica and smarts, wrapping up one of the best Monotonik releases in a good while.”

“the schauermaerchen ep is a story of a little boy.
on the -first track- he is walking through a castle somewhere in the scotish outbacks. its a dark and rainy day, without any moon light.
on the -second track- the little boy arrived at the huge, big castle door. he knocked at the door, a grumpty old man opend the door and aksed: ‘may i help you, master’. the little boy laughed and wisperd:’i have been invited by lord malcolm’.
so he entered the castle.
on the -third track- the little boy went into the salon, to wait for lord malcolm. he heard many strange sounds and felt that somebody looks at him. he get scared.
on the -fourth track- the butler went back to the salon and said:’lord malcom is ready for receiving you’. the little boy followed the butler, to make the last step: enter the room to meet lord malcom.
on the -fifth track- the little boy entered the room. the fight can begin.”
