XD-NETS #008 [paza rahm - amigo EP]

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

“Hush-hush and gather all your dearest vertebrates, obtain and dust off those good old sombreros, snag a few glow sticks and flock around the fancy disposable charcoal grill and hearken to some scary old tales about extinct Amiga computers, peevish rave-nerds, gasping damsels, despaired goth-emos and delighted religious devotees! But remember, NO FISHING today, cause you kids know what happened last time, don’t you… Oh well, at least the pug dog knows.”

GZR #005 [digita’lis/phlox - the drummondii days]

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

“The Digita’lis/Phlox project is Erich Ward and Shawn Shackelford and took place between 1999 and 2001, including a brief tour from the mid-west to the east coast with Chicago-based IDM artist The Flashbulb. Their release, ‘The Drummondii Days,’ is a collection of abstract broken-beat rhythms, 80’s analog synth manipulations, and heavy compression techniques for a unique lo-fi quality. This release includes the classic ‘A Shape of Strange Faith’ track, it’s remix by The Flashbulb (explicit), and our take on something called the P1 Project.”

KPU #105 [winnie the shit - easy]

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

“Today marks the return of the one and only Winnie The Shit! And he’s dropping a full-length album no less! His new album is entitled ‘Easy’ and is a bit of a more subdued affair than his previous release with us. This new one is at times more mellow, with a heavy focus on dubstep and techno, all while keeping it’s eyes squared fixedly on insanely wonderful breakbeats. This will undoubtedly rank up there with one of our best releases ever, and makes a perfect companion to Winnie’s first EP, Hand Driven Episode.” [editor: Great work, Winnie The Shit and KPU! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9Lt-M5ST8k]

IO #017 [endorphin - reset]

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

“The first release of Russian duo electronica musicians. As they have characterized, ‘We have played electro-ethno drums, having diluted their electronic’. This release includes some heavy break-beat style ethnic drums that sound amazing and a down-tempo, lo-fi piano feeling at the same time. Unique in its own way.”

VRW #003 [ambahjak - t-piece]

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

“drum n’ bass album based on fast old school breaks , euphoric happy melodic elements and sometimes harder trance sounding basses . catchy tracks and a couple of surprises are included. the album starts with an inviting feel-good piece, passes through darker spaces with ‘battery concise’ and gets to the first climax when the very clever drum and percussion programmed ‘leach clock’ kicks in. hard attacks, compression and heavy bass drums keep it intense the whole 5 minutes, while track four, ‘this is control’ is more of a downtempo loopy structure seen melodically, but with lots of sound color changes . the best comes at the end: an oldschool sounding prodigy influenced track, perfectly reminding us of those clubbing events we all visited some time ago.”

PS #016 [agf - grayscale forest chase]

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

“AGF is up to his old tricks again: throwing caution to the wind and doing what he wants with breakbeats and chips. 4 tracks and almost 17 minutes of a rollercoaster ride in are in store for everyone. Never knowing where hes going to sling you next, AGF weaves absurdity with seriousness in the strangest of ways with an addictiveness rivaled only by crack and heroin.

As usual with our releases, the music is presented in its original PxTone format, for which the free player and editor are available on the cuts page. Enjoy.”

PS #014 [eightfish - spectacular optical]

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

“A new pxtone native format release from Eightfish has been released. Mixing smooth chips, sci-fi vocals and wicked breakbeats, the 4 tunes featured are almost schizophrenic, but or more or less 4 different thoughts in the same head. Special points go to those that recognize the theme of the EP. The required player/editor (freeware, no installer) is available at the page on top of the cuts section.”
