“AGF is up to his old tricks again: throwing caution to the wind and doing what he wants with breakbeats and chips. 4 tracks and almost 17 minutes of a rollercoaster ride in are in store for everyone. Never knowing where hes going to sling you next, AGF weaves absurdity with seriousness in the strangest of ways with an addictiveness rivaled only by crack and heroin.
As usual with our releases, the music is presented in its original PxTone format, for which the free player and editor are available on the cuts page. Enjoy.”

“This release was a collaborative effort between 5 PxTone users who tend to stray away from pure chippie and BGM sounds when producing in the lo-tech environment. The artists goal was to take a single a sample and build a song around it, or simply just use it somewhere. The result is 7 tracks of wickedly contrasting styles which, when listen together, sound like 7 stories of the same event told by different people who were there. Represented styles included are speedcore idm, minimalistic breaks, r&b+breaks, himuro style, house, and just plain strange, but its a given that all tracks have a chip flavor somehow about them. Featured artists are Kim I/O, AGF, HS, Yamahara and t3h933k.
(It is required to have PxTone .7.9.1 (freeware) for Windows, which is available on the Piston Sources Cuts page since the mission at PS is to promote realtime music and learning, not mp3s.) Total playing time is over 20 minutes.”

“A new pxtone native format release from Eightfish has been released. Mixing smooth chips, sci-fi vocals and wicked breakbeats, the 4 tunes featured are almost schizophrenic, but or more or less 4 different thoughts in the same head. Special points go to those that recognize the theme of the EP. The required player/editor (freeware, no installer) is available at the page on top of the cuts section.”

“You may already know Swedish composer Jens Stääf from his work with the X-Dump, Candymind and others — now he brings his signature fusion of chiptunes, melodic pop and frantic beats to 8bitpeoples for the first time. Viva La Revolution is a killer chiptune odyssey from start to finish, full of unexpected twists and turns, and finishing in some parallel universe where Mozart kicked off the chiptune revolution. The very same revolution that Dorothy’s Magic Bag is keeping alive today.”

“PICOPICODISCO is the debut 8bitpeoples release from the inhumanly talented and totally insane chiptune producing factory known as USK! This is the first full release on 8bitpeoples by a Japanese composer, and it is an unrelenting Game Boy techno trance assault aimed squarely at your heart. If his guerilla actions with the mobile street techno art unit ‘Tsuji Techno’ have not already convinced you of USK’s passion for the form - this hard hitting collection of tunes will. PICOPICODISCO — TAKE OFF!!!”

“Alex Mauer’s Blast brings a 15-year FM synthesis odyssey to a wonderful conclusion. In his debut 8bitpeoples release he has crafted a true land of fake believe in the form of a soundtrack to a videogame which never existed. Blast is filled with urgent melodies and driving, busy rhythms in the tradition of early 16-bit game soundtracks. The release is reinforced by outtakes of young Alex’s earliest conceptions of what he envisioned the game to be, under the supervision of his father - the result is a distinctly unique release 15 years in the making.”
