Cyc #022 [eneg - p h a g e]

Posted in Ambient, Glitch, IDM by bleepwatcher

“P h a g e, by Eneg (Ben Fleury- Steiner), combines elements of IDM, glitch, and ambient to create a work that pulses and twitches while occasionally embracing these sounds with warm synthesis.  He creates a world of city streets, insects, and the possibility of someone always being around the corner.”

COD #013a [ocp - interludes part one]

Posted in Ambient, Dub, Glitch, Minimal by bleepwatcher

“João Ricardo produces music under the name OCP (Operador de Cabine Polivalente). After several releases at the MiMi netlabel, recently his album length work Sound Check has been published at the well-known Testtube netlabel, and now he is here at Complementary Distribution with a release in two parts titled Interludes. Many people praise and enjoy OCP’s unreleased open source audio works at archive.org: Interludes originally was one of those open source materials. In terms of genres OCP creates minimal and glitchy dubambient in a healthy, unconventional and creative way. This first part has an equal and powerful atmosphere. The listener can meet up wet grooves, long and flowing harmonic synthpads accompanied by so called glitchy sounds which are exciting but never disturbing. The release ends with two remixes done by Hungarian local talents. One is Aura Fresh aka Console 9 (Uran97 – DE ChiWare – HU) who is a well known producer in the virtually distributed electronic music scene. Aura Fresh transforms the track Dezasseis into lovely and dubby house enjoyment. The other remixer is an upcoming artist Synus0006 (ChiWare – HU) who reconstructs Dezasseis spontaneously with a live improvisation. The result is something we could call subatomic techno. Interludes Part Two is about to be released in March 2007.”

mdS-al #006 [tripper - selected works #1]

Posted in Drum & Bass, Electro, Glitch by bleepwatcher

“The only way to fight the madness around us and inside ourselves, is to bring positive vibes to our minds and consciousness. You can actually study cymatics to understand that water molecules form beautiful and complex geometrical crystal shapes when exposed to certain music and sound frequencies. And even our intentions, emotions, thoughts affect the crystals through a quantum-field. We are mostly water, so our thoughts, intentions will manifest instantly in our own bodies. Its not that far fetched idea if you think about it…

‘Selected Works 1′ is a Space Pop LP flavoured with styles from Clicks and Cuts, electro and drum and bass by our finnish member Ville Tripper Sarell. The track ‘Tannhäuser Gate’ was produced for the demo ‘Tannhäuser Gate’ by Cubicle: Have a click at cubicle.fi! moodsplateau.net — where passion beats — since 1999 “

SER #012 [ocp - atmos]

Posted in Ambient, Dub, Glitch, Minimal, Techno by bleepwatcher

“As promised, here is the long awaited EP on Serein from Portugese artist, OCP. Those of you with a good memory will remember the contribution he made to the Tracks in the Snow compilation at the beginning of the year, we’ve been eager to release more of his work and are now pleased to present you with Atmos. This five track EP represents perfectly what OCP is all about, combining elements of ambient and glitch through to the modest sounds of dub techno and stripping it right back to the core, we’re left with an understated and refrained collection of minimal yet utterly involving music.

Perhaps what is most striking about OCPs compositions is their unashamedly electronic nature, you are never in doubt as to the source of the sounds, the analogue circuitry practically drips through the speaker cones, which to my mind is very satisfying indeed. Artwork by Huw Roberts.”

FE #002 [akihiko taniguchi - enoh pollatem]

Posted in Glitch by bleepwatcher

“Please welcome our first solo release ‘Enoh Pollatem’ by the japanese artist Akihiko Taniguchi from Tokyo/Saitama. His astonishing artwork includes audio, live-performances, mediasculptures, flash animations/max patches, videoworks and even instrument engineering. Most of his pieces are based on on his interest in the humans perception and complex systems. Apart from those activities Akihiko Taniguchi is also a member of the music group named the Dauding Club. His FE002 release ‘Enoh Pollatem’ at frozenelephantsmusic.com features six tracks characterized by grinding digital textures, glichy edges, artful manipulation of structures & frequencies, all electronically transformed and with human touch hidden in the cracks of the sound.”

“Later an excellent first album went out one month ago on the so excellent net label Givichy, mysterious Xena continues its social reintegration at Fresh Poulp. A new ep freshly conceived taking us between IDM, Glitch, Drum, Electro-hop and why not hip. Xena is not new on Fresh Poulp because at the time of her detention, and hidden under another nickname, she had offered a piece to Fresh Poulp on the first compilation Octopus One.”

RAR #006 [twin tower connection - electronic rocka EP]

Posted in Electro, Experimental, Glitch, House, Techno by bleepwatcher

“Our next release is from the man we call Twin Tower Connection, and is entitled, ‘Electronic Rocka’. Straight out of Zweibrücken, Germany, T.T.C. is always digging deep into the world of experimentation. This release falls somewhere inbetween electro-house, glitch, and minimal techno. However, with a style similar to no one. Bass-heavy, hard, and concrete at times, while sculpting melodic, electronic, dark tech-house style bass lines at others; this release helps define the versitility of our artists. T.T.C. is one of our most verstile artists, as we’ve heard tracks of many a different kind from his end. He is dedicated to being original. We love it when artists think and create outside the box (still sounding musical ofcourse, though we understand art is a ’subjective thing’). This release is filled with lots of layers, songs are sequenced in a pretty simplistic manner, while delivering wild, minimal like effects to add interest. More danceable than some other tracks that Twin Tower has produced, but stilled has his signature warped, off step-experimental funk sound. This is a release you have to check out. Very different from most and has lots of character.”
