PS #015 [VA - stop me EP]

Posted in Chiptune, Compilation, House, IDM, Minimal by bleepwatcher

“This release was a collaborative effort between 5 PxTone users who tend to stray away from pure chippie and BGM sounds when producing in the lo-tech environment. The artists goal was to take a single a sample and build a song around it, or simply just use it somewhere. The result is 7 tracks of wickedly contrasting styles which, when listen together, sound like 7 stories of the same event told by different people who were there. Represented styles included are speedcore idm, minimalistic breaks, r&b+breaks, himuro style, house, and just plain strange, but its a given that all tracks have a chip flavor somehow about them. Featured artists are Kim I/O, AGF, HS, Yamahara and t3h933k.
(It is required to have PxTone .7.9.1 (freeware) for Windows, which is available on the Piston Sources Cuts page since the mission at PS is to promote realtime music and learning, not mp3s.) Total playing time is over 20 minutes.”

Bump #011 [dj kirill - project cuba]

Posted in Downtempo, House by bleepwatcher

“Latin House tracks from Pete Kirill! It is a collaboration with Cuban music group ‘Sin Palabras’. The music has been described as very accessible electronica with minimal down tempo beats and hot Cuban percussion (and vocals). ‘An excellent fusion of house and world - the buena vista social club meets mark farina…danceable and infectious’. “

unfound #23 [Various artists - massalian private jokes]

Posted in House, Minimal, Techno by sergi

unfound23_artwork.jpg“After many super-duper reactions to the aires buenos compilation, unfoundsound continues the “location series” featuring another blossoming surge of techno producers based in a different pocket of the world: marseille, france. after living in the usa for many years, mr. fusiphorm moved back to his homeland, and he settled in marseille. he currently runs foundsound’s european office there while quickly becoming close with a small group of witty, sarcastic and creative people such as sarah goldfarb, d-click, and those behind labels roman, photo, indigo*magenta and bip-hop. the underground sound flowing out of marseille is deep, quirky, emotive and melodic. massallian private jokes showcases a tight-knit family of creative minds hailing from the south of france. the end result is nine tracks courtesy of redwan, lu&nl, doesnotcompute, sam & dave & lowran, greg le roy, larry flint, cedric eteocle, sarah goldfarb, and fusiphorm himself on remix duty.”

YKYK #006 [emmerichk - nebadon]

Posted in House, Minimal by twilight electric

ykyk006_cover_front.jpg“Emmerichk’s second EP finally made it over the big pond and is a definite proof that Mexico’s rising scene for electronic music is easily able to compete with Europe’s artistic sprawl.

Nebadon offers Minimal House tunes with an edge. Crispy clicks and cuts garnish warm floating chords at cosy minor over a well composed layer of hypnotically pounding rhythms – never to fast to spoil the relaxed scenery.

And it is a real pity that all delightful listening has to end after only six tracks. Frequent use of the Repeat button is highly recommended.”

This time, a four pack of phat house cuts by the man in the director’s chair- Eloi Brunelle. Eloi gives us ‘The Love EP’ as an extension of gratitude to Epsilonlab’s endearing fans worldwide. AVXMP3 #006 [elexx - life cycles]

Posted in House by twilight electric

elexx_life_cycles_250.jpg“Touching on deep house, detroit grooves and sprinklings of minimal/electro this EP presents an overall charm in it’s melodic and upbeat feel with some massive hooks which wouldn’t be out of place on a more commercial release.

Patrick Walker turns in a more edgy take on life cycles; a tumbling, micro/electro fusion with gritty analogue growls and deep aquatic chords. This collection is the ideal compliment to any summer shakedown.”

  1. space shuttle “A deep slice of minimal techno which takes us on a blissed out journey through the substreets of Edinburgh through the eyes of a stoned frenchman. Warm effected synths meander over the top of intricate, minimal rythyms to give this tripped out track a sparkling edge. Our first impression of this track was that it contained similar references to the current output on imprints such as get physical, where strong melody is often more prevalant than microsampled skits.”
  2. life cycles “Kicking of with an edgy breakbeat, this track soon drops warm , bubbling analogue melodies again over a deep, linear techno groove. Full of charm, this track will appeal to those who remember the harthouse/rising high era of techno, where hypnotic melodies and strong percussion produce a trance like groove.”
  3. life cycles (patrick walker elektromek mix) “Patrick Walker rips open the fabric of life cycles with a fragmented peice of modern electro, maintaining the gritty break of the original, he drops ripping analogue stabs and deep melancholic chords into the mix to give it a frantic yet thoughtful edge, since it has been previewed this mix has drawn comparisons with monolake and the aquatic electro of drexciya.”
  4. purple cream (on my way out mix) “Elexx finishes off with a lovely detroit tinged track full of swirling chords and pumped percussion ideal for the dancefloor; recorded live, this track builds on the slow building energy of the previous tracks and packs a slightly harder punch.”

RAR #004 [yan ots - euro attraction EP]

Posted in House by twilight electric

RAR004_01_Euro_Attraction_CD_Front.jpg“Random Access Recordings brings you our latest from Russian Native Yan Ots entltled ‘Euro Attraction.’ That is exacly what Yan Ots is too, a ‘Euro Attraction.’ We think we will definitely raise some eyebrows with this uptempo disco-house stomper. With this release, Yan shows us that he can remix a song not once but twice without the more than we can stand overkill that we sees allot these days with remixes. Can you say ‘Hooray.’ LOL. Yan gives you all you can ask for with this EP. That is allot to be said considering it is three different mixes of one song. Each song brings its own flava as it should. DJ’s definitely should get a piece of this, with each track being very dance floor friendly. Uptempo grooves, Filter sweeps that would even get DJ Sneak’s approval, huge melodies, nice and tight complex arrangements, all packed in with a ‘feel good’ vibe that just makes you want to go to out on the dancefloor and dance your ass off all night long. Yan is truely one of the best house produces I have ever heard. He showcases versatility, showing us his slick production skills; from producing soulful vocal tracks to fusing together pure melodic musical maddness. This one is going to get allot of attention and create allot of buzz. I truely couldn’t believe my ears when I first got the demo!!! This Guy is gonna blow up. Trust me!!! Download it now and if you just can’t get enough, we will have another release from him soon. Enjoy this one to the fullest!!!”
